Building through the monsoon: what to change and what to pause
Four months of rain does not have to mean four months of no progress — but the sequence and the material handling have to change.

What to pause
External plastering, painting, waterproofing membrane application and excavation in poorly drained soil. All of them depend on a dry substrate, and none of them can be forced.
What can continue
Internal work — blockwork, internal plaster, electrical and plumbing rough-in, tiling, carpentry and finishing. Structural concrete can proceed with proper protection and covered access.
Concreting in the rain
Adjust the mix for aggregate moisture, keep the water-cement ratio under control, and protect fresh concrete from direct rain for the first several hours. Rain on unset concrete washes cement paste off the surface and leaves it permanently weak.
Material handling
Cement needs a genuinely dry covered store. Sand bulks and holds water — expect to buy by weight. Steel needs to be off the ground. Site drainage should be sorted before the first heavy shower, not after.

Move internal work forward, protect cement and fresh concrete absolutely, and buy aggregates by weight in the rains.
