What moves the TMT bar rate
TMT pricing tracks the raw-material chain: iron ore and coking coal feed sponge iron and billet, and billet moves the rolling-mill price within days. Layer on freight from the mill, state levies and project demand, and a rate quoted in one metro can differ by ₹3,000–₹5,000 a tonne from another.
Brand and grade matter too. Primary producers such as TATA Tiscon, JSW Neosteel, SAIL usually sit above secondary mills for the same diameter, and Fe 550D carries a small premium over Fe 500 for its higher yield strength and ductility. Compare grade, diameter and per-kg landed cost together rather than headline rate alone.

Why do TMT steel rates change so often?
TMT is priced off iron ore, sponge iron and billet costs, which move weekly. Add freight from the rolling mill, state levies and local demand and the landed rate can shift several times in a month.
Which TMT brands and grades are covered?
Listings from TATA Tiscon, JSW Neosteel, SAIL, Jindal Panther and regional secondary mills are included whenever a verified supplier publishes a live rate, across Fe 500, Fe 500D and Fe 550D grades in 8 mm to 32 mm diameters.

Suppliers publish in their own unit — usually per kg or per tonne. Each listing on this page shows the unit alongside the rate so you can compare like for like.
