AAC blocks vs red bricks: cost, weight and comfort compared
AAC blocks cost several times what a brick costs per piece and frequently work out cheaper per building. Here is why.

Dead load and structural cost
AAC is roughly a third the density of brick masonry. On a multi-storey framed building, that reduces the load on beams, columns and foundations enough that the structural engineer can often reduce section sizes and steel — a saving that shows up somewhere other than the walling line item.
Speed
One AAC block replaces several bricks. Fewer units and thin-bed adhesive joints mean a mason lays significantly more wall area per day, which shortens the schedule and cuts labour cost.
Thermal comfort
The aerated structure insulates far better than solid brick. On west-facing walls and top floors in central India, that difference is felt directly in room temperature and cooling bills.
Where AAC is the wrong choice
AAC needs thin-bed adhesive and the right fixings; using thick cement mortar and ordinary screws throws away the advantage and creates problems. It also needs careful handling — blocks chip. If your masons have never worked with it, budget for supervision on the first wall.
